It takes less than 10 minutes to prepare these crispy and perfectly seasoned sausage rolls before you cook them in the oven for 25 minutes.
How to make Christmas sausage rolls
Ingredients
- 400g of pork sausage meat
- One garlic clove
- One teaspoon of orange zest
- Ready to roll puff pastry
- Brie cheese
- Cranberry sauce
- One egg (beaten)
- Mixed herbs seasoning
- Salt and pepper
Method
To begin, preheat the oven to 200C (180C for fan oven) and then grease a baking sheet.
Add the sausage meat to a large mixing bowl. If you are squeezing the meat out of sausages, make sure not to add the skins.
Finely chop up a garlic clove and add that to the mixing bowl along with one teaspoon of orange zest. Mix everything together, then season with mixed herbs, salt and pepper.
Lightly flour a clean kitchen counter and unroll the pastry. Cut the pastry in half lengthwise and then spread a tablespoon of cranberry sauce down the middle of each pastry piece.
These sausage rolls ‘taste phenomenal’ and are easy to make
Divide the sausage meat between the two pastry pieces and spread on top of the cranberry sauce. Cut up your brie and lay the slices on top of the sausage meat.
Make sure not to add too much cranberry sauce otherwise, it will leak and make sure there is enough space around the pastry edges without any filling to fold it.
Brush one edge of the pastry with a beaten egg, then fold over the other side of the pastry so that the ingredients are fully sealed inside the sausage roll.
Use a fork to press the pastry down to seal it and cut off any excess pastry. Then, do the same for the other pastry piece.
Cut each big sausage roll into four pieces and make sure to poke two holes on top of each mini sausage roll so steam can escape while they cook. Then, brush any remaining egg over each sausage roll.
Place in the oven and cook for 25 minutes until crispy and golden brown. Leave them to cool for a few minutes after taking them out of the oven and then your tasty sausage rolls will be ready to serve.
