A man has been charged with five counts of murder and several counts of attempted murder after an attack at , Germany.

The suspect who has now been charged is , a Saudi doctor in his 50s. He arrived in Germany in 2006 and has worked in the Saxony-Anhalt region.

He is a 50-year-old psychiatrist from Saudi Arabia with a history of anti-Islam rhetoric, who has resided in Germany for nearly two decades, according to German police.

Meanwhile, heartbreaking tributes have been paid to the nine-year-old boy who was tragically killed in Friday’s attack.

Andre Gleissner was murdered the black BMW rental car into a crowd of people at Magdeburg Christmas market shortly after 7pm.

As well as Andre, another four women aged between 45 and 75 were killed, with more than 200 injured.
