Bullseye has been missing for three decades and has now returned for a festive special with presenter and former cricketer Freddie Flintoff leading the way.
From Blockbusters and Catchphrase to Price Is Right and You Bet, game show reboots have been taking over primetime TV and now it’s the turn of darts-themed series Bullseye on .
Stepping into original host Jim Bowen’s shoes, former A League Of Their Own star Freddie Flintoff is taking over presenting duties with the Christmas special airing this evening, Sunday, December 22.
And much like the original, he is overseeing proceedings with three teams of two, made up of amateur darts players and quiz lovers, using their skills to win points and prizes.
But some viewers were left unhappy from the get-go thanks to the modern take on the show’s classic opening credits and music.
Bullseye fans ‘disappointed’ minutes into ITV reboot after making the same complaints.
Bullseye sees teams of dart players and quiz lovers compete for points and prizes.
While the sequence featured Bully and the classic tune was included, the extended cartoon had been scrapped and the tune transitioned into a modern song as Flintoff appeared on set.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, a fan wrote: “Already ruined #bullseye with the music”.
Another said: “No c**p animated opening sequence. This has fallen at the first hurdle .”
“One minute into the Bullseye reboot and already disappointed that the opening credits didn’t have the cow driving the bus”, agreed a third.
Whereas a fellow viewer wrote: “It’s great they have kept the theme tune, but it looks like they have got rid of the coach on the intro.”
Bullseye was originally presented by host Jim Bowen before it came to an end in 1995.
Not everyone was displeased with the show’s return with many happy to see the classic game show back on their screens.
“This Show is literally just so Nostalgic”, a fan commented with another stating: “It’s Great To have Bullseye back on my tv screen.”
“At least ITV kept the theme tune”, someone said.
Another user joked: “Freddie Flintoff’s jokes are just as bad as Jim Bowen’s and I’m here for it.”
Also taking to X, a fan remarked: “You Bet and Bullseye back in the same month?!…
“Just need Noel’s House Party back to really get the full on nostalgic feels!!”
Bullseye is available to watch on ITV and ITVX.
