Wind gusts of up to 110 km/hr are expected in Bella Bella, Klemtu, and Shearwater.
Residents of B.C.’s Central Coast are being warned about strong winds headed their way, with gusts of up to 110 kilometres an hour expected.
Environment and Climate Change Canada posted the wind warning Saturday, saying a vigorous storm would affect Bella Bella, Klemtu and Shearwater.
As the system moves across the region Saturday afternoon, winds were expected to rise to 90 km/h gusting to 110 km/h for a few hours before easing at night.
The federal weather agency says damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches, the warning states.
While there’s no alert in effect for B.C.’s South Coast, there is a note from Environment Canada meteorologists, saying strong southeast wind is expected Monday and Tuesday near coastal sections of Metro Vancouver.
The note says travel delays and power outages are possible.
