The quaint village of has not changed much over the years and still retains a vast number of independent shops and charming cafes that have not been spoiled by modern development. 

Emsworth is a town in the Borough of Havant in the county of and has remained popular among artists, sailors, naturalists and walkers.

This charming town has managed to retain its old world charm with history and culture found throughout with interesting archetypal styles scattered across this once historic place. 

Emsworth can be found on the south coast of England near the border of West Sussex and lies at the north end of Chichester Harbour.

The fishing village is also equidistant between Portsmouth and Chichester and is the perfect weekend break for anyone visiting the area.

During the Middle Ages, this Hampshire town was a far cry from its peaceful vibe of today.

Emsworth was once the home of a busy port that was put on the map thanks to its import of wine which served the noble classes of the time.

Today you don’t have to be a nobleman to enjoy the wines and delicious foods on offer here with a host of activities and several nods to the region’s yesteryear. 

The town of Emsworth has been described as a perfect place for those who love a good stroll with interesting antique shops to browse in including several independent food shops.

After the Middle Ages, Emsworth began using tidal power to grind flour and became known for its oyster beds and oyster production.

Elmsworth has a long history connected with oyster fishing which is evident with the town’s unique historic walk known as the Oyster Trail.

The walk begins at the Museum in North Street and highlights Elmsworth’s oyster fishery.

Walks around the harbour offer some truly spectacular sights as the town has a basin for yachts and fishing boats that bob along the current.

Among the key attractions is the Emsworth Museum with activities including pleasure boating, art galleries and lovely coastal walks to keep you entertained. 

Pleasure boating is now one of Emsworth’s main attractions, along with its art galleries and lovely coastal walks, offering views over Chichester Harbour.

There are also a great selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes to choose from with some overlooking the harbour and one named Fat Olives that is located in a former fisherman’s cottage.

Walking along the region’s attractive streets you will be met with high walled gardens all lined with an eclectic mix of architectural styles that includes traditional shipwrights and chandleries seen throughout.
