Zoe Ball on her last day
made sure to thank her colleagues for their support as part of a heartfelt monologue while concluding her final Breakfast Show, after an incredible six years at the helm.
The presenter broke down in tears on air before composing herself and paying tribute to her team at the broadcaster, who “held me up, quite literally, when I was at my lowest”.
It comes after Zoe had to take a six-week break from her radio show earlier this year following the loss of her mother, Julie Peckham, who tragically died after battling advanced pancreatic cancer.
Upon announcing her departure from the Breakfast Show, Zoe explained that it was “time for me to step away from the very early mornings and focus on family”.

At the end of her emotional last show on Friday morning, Zoe gave a “special shoutout” to her co-star and friend Jo Whiley, adding: “Her show is my favourite on air. She has been such a friend to me in so many ways.
“Jo, keep championing great music. You are one beautiful lady, friend and mama. You are my hero.”
Zoe then shared some words for her children, telling them: “Being your mum is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
She continued: “Now, through the glass, to my other kids. The prod squad, frog squad, fraud squad, as they’ve been called.

“They are an extraordinary group of young talent. My four producers over the years, Graham, Ricky, Jordan and Patrick.
“They are super smart, adventurous, hilarious, brave, bold and have taught me so much. They’ve held me up, quite literally, when I’ve been at my lowest.
“I love you all and I’m going to miss you mighty amounts. Shine on you crazy diamonds.”
Zoe will be replaced by Scott Mills in the New Year, but the star has told fans she will be staying “in the Radio 2 crew”, and will share updates on her new role in 2025.
