The coming months could see the UK sending British troops to to help train its soldiers as ‘s forces continue to repel ‘s invading army.
Russian President has hurled threats of escalation towards allies of , including Britain, throughout the almost three-year conflict, and such a development would likely infuriate the Kremlin further.
Sources have told the that sending British troops to the war-torn country – not to fight but to help with training – has not been ruled out by the government.
Defence Secretary John Healey met Ukrainian officials in Kyiv this week to discuss plans on how to boost military support for for 2025.
He declined to elaborate on what the plans could look like, insisting they have to remain “let’s say, unavailable to [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin”.

Britain has helped train Ukrainian troops since Putin’s invasion began in February 2022, though this has involved Ukrainian troops travelling to British bases to be put through their paces.
A small team of British Army medics has also been providing training inside .
Nato boots on the ground in have long been regarded as a red line by Moscow, but if British troops were sent there – which has not been confirmed – they would not be fighting against Russian troops.

Healey promised an additional £225 million of military support as he met with his Ukrainian counterparts, with the new aid package will go towards purchasing drones, artillery shells and air defence systems.

Back in July, the British government pledged to provide £3 billion a year in military aid until 2030 to 2031 and back Kyiv for long as it takes.
Healey had discussed with officials how to put in the strongest possible position for the coming year, which involved more weapons, more training and further sanctions on .
