Fans of the hit series You have been on tenterhooks since part two of season four dropped on in March 2023, and at last, there’s a buzz of excitement as news about the fifth and final season breaks.
On Thursday (December 19), stirred the pot with a tantalising first-look poster, placing the notorious Joe Goldberg front and centre, surrounded by newspaper clippings of his past victims – a stark suggestion that his dark deeds might finally catch up with him.
Taking to X, the new face of Twitter, teased: “Goodbye, you. The killer final season of YOU is coming in 2025.”
But the lack of a specific release date left fans in a lurch, with only hinting that the show will premiere sometime next year. Disappointed viewers took to social media to air their frustrations.
One fan lamented: “I was celebrating until I found out that it will be released in 2025,” reports .

The much-anticipated final season will see the protagonist make his way back to the bustling streets of New York City, ready to embrace his ‘happily ever after’. However, the shadows of his dark history loom, threatening to upend his idyllic existence. Returning to the screen alongside Penn Badgley are stars Charlotte Richie, Madeline Brewer, Anna Camp, and Griffin Matthews.
Sera Gamble, the showrunner, has dropped hints about what lies ahead for Joe after the dramatic end of season four. Speaking with Reporter, she revealed: “He’s gotten to come home again which is significant.” She further elaborated on the character’s journey, saying: “Something that we felt like we didn’t need to keep going forever with was the idea that every single time, pretty much, that he killed somebody, he not only has justified it in his head, he’s justified that it was probably an accident a lot of the time.”
The series, You, initially launched on Lifetime in September 2018 and made the leap to following the green light for a second season.
