Williams brought the last two reds away from the top cushion with a superb shot on the blue. But after the 49-year-old had stretched to pot the penultimate red with assistance from the rest, he slipped and fell onto the table, with his upper body slamming down violently onto the baize.
The star grimaced in pain and bent down to nurse his thigh before taking a few moments to recover. He ultimately regained his composure to complete a break of 68 and close out the victory.

And discussing the incident after the match, he explained: “I dropped everything when I slipped on the carpet and I was lucky not to hit the brown.
“I hurt my elbow and it is very sore. It was a good break. The blue was a tricky one, you can so easily decelerate on that shot.
“But I had to go for it rather than play safe. Judd looked very good tonight, he didn’t look like missing. He has beaten me in a lot of deciding frames, so it’s nice to win one.”

Williams will meet Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final if he overcomes Brecel and the Rocket gets the better of Mark Allen in his last-four showdown.
O’Sullivan thrashed Ding Junhui 4-0 in his quarter-final, with the match lasting just 49 minutes.
And following that encounter, the seven-time world champion said: “I have enjoyed the last three tournaments. I have found a way to feel comfortable at the table, which is great.
“I knew I had to tighten up on my safety because I was giving too many chances away. I have been working with Lee Walker and he has pointed some stuff out to me. It’s great to see the fans here. The sport coming to Saudi Arabia is incredible – if you are into sport it’s paradise.”
