Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Liz Kendall
You’d think that by now we’d have got used to this Government’s treachery, the lies and the hypocrisy. But No, every day brings a fresh betrayal, a fresh stab to the heart.
And this week the victims of Starmer’s treachery are the women who were told glibly and without warning that Government simply couldn’t afford to pay them the £10.5bn in compo they had been led to believe they’d get.
Don’t miss…
What is it with and the elderly? First he sticks the boot into vulnerable pensioners and steals their winter fuel allowance leaving millions having to choose between heating and eating this winter.
Then this week’s Judas Kiss went to the 3.8m WASPI women – Women Against Inequality – born in the 50s who weren’t given enough warning about pension changes and had to work five years longer before receiving their Pension.
And this hammer blow was delivered by Starmer’s attack dog, Works and Pensions minister , who announced in the commons glibly and without warning that these women weren’t going to get the compensation Starmer had told them they would.
This is the same Liz Kendall who not too very long ago, when she was desperate to go latch onto any cause that made her attractive to voters, claimed to be a huge supporter of WASPI women.
She said: “Women across the UK are now suffering hardship because of the changes made in 2011. This injustice can’t go on.” And like the two-faced traitor she is she posed for pics with the WASPIs promising to help get them a fair deal.
How times change. In fact far from wanting to fight for thee women Kendall had no compunction this week in sticking the knife between their collective shoulder blades making clear that no compo would be forthcoming because a “great majority” of these women (Starmer had claimed it was 90%) knew the age was increasing.
So Kendall isn’t just NOT supporting them she’s actually bloody blaming them – saying what happened to them is their fault and they should have known.
Liz, who masquerades as socialist who cares (whilst living in a £4m mansion in Notting Hill) doesn’t actually care at all. She was always just using these lionhearted women to look like she did. And now instead of using her new found power to help them she’s used it to stuff them up.
As for her and Starmer’s assertions that 90% of these women knew about the changes – that’s a big fat lie because the Parliamentary ombudsman, after much investigation, concluded that 60% of them had no idea the pension age was rising and they should be paid compensation of £2,950 each. Which frankly was never enough but at least it was something.
Liz Kendall and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer
But Kendall isn’t alone in her treachery. Rachel Reeves said the Waspis should be helped, as did Gobby , as did Lisa Nandy. All were happy to latch onto the cause not because they gave a damn but because it gave them a profile that made them look good and caring when they’re clearly not.
So having lied to them to get their votes Starmer now says the Government can’t afford to pay the WASPIS the £10.3bn compo.
Funny, that he was able to find nearly £10bn to pay off a bunch of public sector workers but he can’t find the cash to compensate these women? In fact so handsomely did he and Reeves reward train drivers for their strike action that most of them are now so rich they don’t even have to even do overtime any more.
Is this Government’s utter disdain for the elderly because Starmer and Co think the grey voters can’t fight back? Because if they do they’re in for one Hell of a shock with the WASPIS who’ve got more fight in them that this entire government . And they’ll fight to the death for what they’re owed.
But maybe they won’t have to because already there’re a mutiny in the ranks over Starmer’s weasly betrayal. I never saw myself ever cheering on Dianne Abbot but this week the Mother of the House had me doing just that when she shamed her government saying: “We promised these women justice. “And promising one thing in Opposition and doing the opposite in Government is a betrayal.”
But even Diane knows it’s way more sinister than that. What these ministers did was calculating, cruel and manipulative. They used vulnerable women and a cause that meant everything to them and then they lied to them to get their vote.
They also used them as a stick to beat the with saying the didn’t care about them. Because that’s what the support of these Labour MPs (there were 80 of them who vowed to support the WASPIs in opposition) was ever all about. It wasn’t because they gave a damn about them it was because they wanted to show the up as evil uncaring for not paying out.
But Starmer now faces a growing rebellion with more than 50 MPs saying they’d vote against the Government on this issue and THAT plays into the narrative that whenever the hypocrite Starmer and his ministers move their lips- they’re lying and they can’t be trusted. They say one thing and do another.
The man isn’t fit to lead a fact which was confirmed this week when having been asked if he’d do anything differently if he was just starting out as PM he said NO.
And that’s the measure of his utter incompetence. He wouldn’t do anything differently even though he’s been exposed as a ligger and a liar, he’s taken freebies from rich donors, his half-witted decisions have de railed the economy which has led to job losses, rising inflation and zero business confidence. His
personal popularity ratings are the lowest ever recorded for a Labour leader and more than 70% of voters are dissatisfied with the government after just five months in power.
Oh and the economy is going to get worse next year. But Hey crack brained Keir regrets nothing? He might, however, regret messing with the WASPIS. Because if he thinks they’re just going to take his treachery lying down he needs to think again.
These women have guts, courage and a voice the like of which a man like Starmer could never conceive of and in the coming months they’ll use all three to shame him at every turn making him look like the bungling, uncaring dud of a Prime Minister he is!
Politics has always been a dirty game but there are times – when politicians play games with people lives – that it becomes sickening . And this is one of those times.
