Christian Kist has revealed that he plans to go on holiday with his family after winning a whopping £60,000 despite his first-round defeat. The Dutchman was the first player to throw a nine-darter at Alexandra Palace since the epic 2023 final between Michael Smith and Michael van Gerwen.

An agreement between a prominent bookmaker and the PDC means Kist will earn £60k. For every nine-darter thrown, the bookie will pay out £180k, split between the player, a lucky fan, and the charity Prostate Cancer UK.

Kist was actually unaware that he was set to earn such a hefty sum, which would be the equivalent of a standard run to the quarter-final. He has since revealed that he will spend his prize on a holiday with his family.

“It was a special moment for me yesterday and for the fan and for the charity. It was great,” the 38-year-old told the .

“I was very surprised. A nice surprise. I said nothing, ‘oh nice that’s nice’ [upon being told of the sum]. I will spend the money on my family maybe a holiday,

“I don’t know I didn’t think a lot about it because all the fans at home want to speak so didn’t really think about the money. I would like to go on holiday when I don’t have to play or train so can rest.”

In an earlier interview, Kist revealed that he was unaware about the £180k prize. The lucky fan was revealed as a 28-year-old man called Kris.

“I didn’t know that at all, I hadn’t been told that. That is an absolute windfall,” Kist said after his defeat against Madars Razma.

“Hitting the double 12 felt amazing. It was a lovely moment for everyone and I hope Kris enjoys the money. Maybe I will go on vacation next month.”

Darts fan Kris went home £60k richer thanks to Kist’s nine-darter. “I am speechless to be honest. I didn’t expect it to happen to me. I am shaking still, I can’t believe it,” he told PA.

“I am a massive darts fan, I came to a final 10 years ago with my brother and grandad, who I am here with tonight. I haven’t been back since. This was a birthday present so it makes it even better, my grandad got me tickets, it makes it even sweeter.”
