Ricky Evans was involved in World Champ action on Thursday night
star Ricky Evans has hit back at critics who have called him ‘s**t and fat’.
A born entertainer, Evans’ festive-inspired appearances on the Ally Pally stage are often some of the highlights of the event’s early rounds.
He didn’t disappoint on Wednesday night, when Evans, decked in a special Christmas-style darts shirt, emerged singing ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ ahead of his Round One match with Gordon Mathers.
And in keeping with the positive vibes, Evans saw off his Australian opponent to ensure safe progression into the next round, where he’ll face Dave Chisnall.
But, it was Evans’ post-match reaction on social media that garnered the most attention, with Rapid Ricky hitting back at his critics via a Facebook post.
As shared by darts account @anonymous_darts on X, Evans appeared to say: “Big thanks to all the muppets saying I’m poo at darts & fat haha.
“I’m still in the world champs… and your watching me on your tv haha,” coupled off with five heart surrounding face emojis.
A stern message to his haters, but it came after an open and honest assessment of his performance in Evans’ post-match press conference.

He stated: “It’s weird because it’s the most deflated I’ve ever felt coming off the stage, but I’ve won. I don’t understand how I’ve won, but I’m in the next round.
“I don’t want to let myself down… I should be seeded here, let alone winning games. I’ve said before, I overthink things… I need to be stupid behind them [pointing to ears]. I do.”
Evans was touted as one of the next up and coming darts stars when he came through the PDC Youth Ranks, but so far in his career, the 34-year-old hasn’t yet reached the heights expected.
On the mental side of the game, Evans said: “On pure ability, I’m definitely in the top 16. There aren’t 16 players in the world better than me, but there is when its on stage.
“They’re more professional with what they do away from darts as well. But, if I play my best darts, I am definitely up there. One million per cent.
“But I’ve got to prove that, the more I lose first rounds it’s not happening. I still believe I’m going to win the worlds one day.”
He added: “I wouldn’t play the Tour, I wouldn’t go to Wigan and Leicester… I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t believe it.
“I get so deflated. I must’ve cried this year more than anyone else because I lost. Talking about losing and everything like that. I do believe I’m better than 80 per cent of the tour, easily.”
