Lee Mack makes bombshell The 1% Club announcement without receiving ITV clearance to do so

Lee Mack, host of The 1% Club, could be in hot water with ITV bosses after he prematurely revealed several unknown details about the show without obtaining the necessary permissions.

The comedian was a guest on Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Sian Welby and Chris Stark, who were all keen to get the inside track on the popular game show. Despite not having been given the green light to share any secrets, Lee couldn’t resist letting slip live on air, leaving the hosts utterly stunned.

He informed listeners that The 1% Club is set to follow in the footsteps of Bradley Walsh’s The Chase by launching its own celebrity version. Lee also revealed that one hundred famous faces have already signed up and filmed their participation in the mass quiz.

The Not Going Out star even dropped a surprise spoiler for fans, disclosing the identity of one celebrity who progresses quite far in the spin-off episode, much to everyone’s astonishment.

During the radio chat, host Jordan was eager to discuss the success of the programme when the conversation took an unexpected turn. The former I’m A Celebrity contestant asked Lee a question he wasn’t ready for: “Is there going to be a celebrity special?”

The funnyman caused a stir and had everyone in fits of laughter as he chirped back without hesitation: “Well…I just texted someone saying am I allowed to talk about this, but I don’t know? But anyway, yes, we are.”

Jordan was instantly intrigued by Lee’s frank admission and prodded further: “One hundred celebs?”

“Yes, it’s a soccer aid special,” Lee confirmed, as the Would I Lie To You captain let slip details of an upcoming episode. Sian added her enthusiasm: “Ah that’s good.”

Lee gave away what fans could expect from the one off episode, sharing: “So, it’s ex-footballers with some celebs as well. So, you can imagine we were worried no one was going to get past the eighty percent question,” to which everyone in the studio laughed.
