Chappell Roan has a lot of fans but two of her biggest supporters go by mom and dad.
Roan, 26, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, grew up in Missouri. Her parents are named Dwight and Kara Amstutz.
The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer has talked about her parents’ unwavering support for her singing career. In a July interview, she explained that though her parents receive backlash from the conservative community for her music, which often touches on LGBTQ+ topics, they are “very supportive.”
“They never put their concerns (surrounding backlash) over my happiness,” she said at the time.
“My parents, they are very supportive in my art, even though it is, like, hyper-sexual and it’s purposefully tacky, trashy — opposite of how the community encourages women to be,” she continued. “And they are still supportive.”
Roan rose to fame in 2024 with hits like “HOT TO GO!” and “Pink Pony Club,” which directly addresses her mom in the lyrics.
Roan explained, “They just are really good at knowing that Chappell Roan is a character and Kayleigh is their daughter.”

Kara Amstutz
During her concerts, Roan would frequently give her mother, Kara Amstutz, a shoutout.
On TikTok, a fan posted a video of Roan singing to her mother while she performed on stage. Then, in another clip, Roan happily shared with her fans some dating advice from her mom.
“You can’t sleep with them until the third date. You can’t wear red lipstick ‘cause that means something,’” she said during one of her performances while imitating her mother.
“…And I’m just like, ‘Mom, I love you. But it doesn’t work like that when you’re dating a girl.’”
On TikTok, fans fawned over Roan’s relationship with her mom.
“I can’t imagine how happy it must make her to have her mom at her shows,” one person said.
Another wrote, “Her mother must be choking back tears because I am! She is magic.”
A third added, “Me crying because her mom must be so proud watching her daughter grow into such an icon.”
Roan also gave her mom a shoutout on Instagram. For Mother’s Day 2023, she shared a few throwback photos of them together and captioned it, “Happy Mother’s Day to my sweet angel of a mother. I love you so much.”
Dwight Amstutz
Dwight Amstutz, Roan’s father, is the definition of a proud dad.
In a “Carpool Karaoke” video that aired on AppleTV+, Roan’s dad became emotional after singing “Pink Pony Club” with his daughter.
“What she stands for is a lot of hope,” he said, wiping a tear.
He continued, “What she has taught me as a father, it’s respect for other people and for all people. And that’s what I want people to understand. Everything that is about her is about loving everybody and she has taught me that.”
In 2022, she thanked him for letting her feature his dirt bike, with a bit of an upgrade, in a shoot for her hit song “Femininomenon.”
“Thank you to my sweet father who let me bedazzle his dirt bike,” she wrote. “Femininomenon has been so fun to create. I’m so grateful for my friends who once again helped me pull it off. Who flew all the way to Missouri to shoot in my parents’ backyard.”
However, Roan has also shared that her rise to fame has been challenging for her parents.
In an interview with Rolling Stone in September, Roan opened up about her sudden success. She revealed she was being stalked by someone who showed up to her parents’ house unannounced and followed her to her hotel room. She also said there was a time when someone had leaked her father’s personal number.
