has given a rare insight into his private life as he revealed an award-winning film he’s a big fan of.
The monarch was busy delivering honours as on Wednesday and one of the lucky recipients was renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan.
The director received a knighthood and his producer wife Emma Thomas received a damehood for their services to film.
While they were having these , the King told Nolan that he was a fan of Oppenheimer – the 2023 summer blockbuster that ended up winning seven Oscars.
Sir Christopher told the PA news agency: “It was very nice that he knew our work and was aware of it, and, yes, he was hoping that I would take this as encouragement to do more of it.”

Thomas added: “He’d seen Oppenheimer, and he liked it, so that was very gratifying to hear.”
Sir Christopher said meeting the King was “really wonderful” and to receive the honour alongside his wife.
Thomas said she’d “never even dreamed of anything like this happening”, calling the damehood “mind blowing” and “even more meaningful” that it was received alongside her husband.

Thomas added: “What I was really thrilled by is the fact that I’ve heard anecdotally since about lots of younger people having their first experience of this story on the big screen, and then delving deeper and doing more of their own research into the events that we portrayed.”
