Donald Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz on Monday made light of his onstage collapse at the expense of a high-level political opponent.
Bruesewitz commented on X, formerly Twitter, after he passed out during remarks at the New York Young Republican Club Gala on Sunday. He took the lectern with him as he crashed to the floor amid gasps from the crowd.
“We are back,” Bruesewtiz wrote on X. “What a surreal experience. Maybe I took my Joe Biden impression just a little too far.”
The president had been characterized as doddering and mentally unfit before his unfocused performance against Trump in a debate. That set the wheels in motion for the Democratic nomination of Vice President Kamala Harris, whom the former president defeated last month. Bruesewitz was credited with helping the president-elect court younger male voters on podcasts.
Bruesewitz thanked the “patriots” who came to his aid at the gala, as well as the emergency personnel and hospital he was taken to. He received scores of well wishes on the post.
On the night that Bruesewitz fainted, Trump called into the event and lauded the consultant, saying: “I know that Alex is going to be fine” because “he’s a tough son of a gun” and “a very special guy.”
