Ambani, who was born in 1957, is the main force behind Reliance Industries, one of largest conglomerates. 

His empire spans industries like petrochemicals, oil refining, telecommunications, and retail.

Reliance Industries has the world’s largest grassroots petroleum refinery in Jamnagar, India. The refinery can process 660,000 barrels of oil per day. 

In recent years, Ambani has also spearheaded India’s 4G digital revolution with Reliance Jio, the country’s leading telecom provider, connecting millions of people to affordable high-speed internet.

As far as his personal life is concerned, Ambani was born in Yemen but grew up in Mumbai, India, in a modest two-bedroom apartment. 

His father, Dhirubhai Ambani, started Reliance as a small trading business before it expanded into one of the most powerful companies in the world.

He lives in Antilia, a 27-storey private mansion in Mumbai worth $1 billion – one of the most expensive private homes in the world. 

The lavish property includes three helipads, a 160-car garage, a swimming pool, and even a private theatre.

Ambani’s wealth far surpasses many well-known billionaires around the world, including his peers in Asia. 

His fortune is rooted in both old and new industries, from traditional oil and gas to the cutting-edge tech world.

However, Ambani has had his fair share of problems. Reliance Industries was previously fined for, what Securities and Exchange Board of India called, stock manipulation. 

Ambani himself has also previously been accused of market manipulation, political corruption, cronyism and exploitation.
