issued an emotional update after revealing that her mum was admitted to hospital.

Over the weekend, Ruth’s elderly mother suffered a serious fall which left her with a fractured pelvis. The Loose Women presenter, 64, shared the news with her followers on social media, explaining that Joan was in hospital but that she hoped to get her home soon.

However, in a new update, Ruth said that doctors are keeping Joan in hospital a little longer whilst she continues to recover.

Despite the accident, Ruth confessed that Joan is in good spirits, while she is still hoping to bring her mum home before Christmas.

Alongside part of an image of Joan sat in her hospital bed, Ruth wrote: “Hospital visit….thank you all so much for your lovely messages and well wishes for my darling Mum.

“She’ll be in hospital for a bit longer yet, but she’s in pretty good spirits considering and I hope she’ll be home for Christmas.”

Ruth’s followers and celebrity pals were quick to send supportive messages in the comments. Former Homes Under the Hammer presenter Lucy Alexander wrote: “My darling – love you.”

Escape to the Country’s Nicki Chapman penned: “Sending love to you both.”

Ex-Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison posted: “Sending you and your mam so much love Ruth.”

Another shared: “Wishing your lovely mum and speedy recovery, it’s a worrying time.”

Over the weekend, Ruth posted a heartwarming video of her mother dancing and singing in the kitchen as she cut vegetables to her 1 million followers.

Alongside the clip, Ruth explained that this year’s Christmas could look very different after her mother’s accident.

The former This Morning presenter wrote: “No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas….she’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis!

“She’s ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness but she needs rest and time to heal now. She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon.

“This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well…she’s a very strong woman so I’m sure she’ll recover from this too. Put’s life and what’s important into perspective eh? Happy Christmas!”
