British Gas announces half price electricity offer this evening – can you save?

is offering half price electricity tonight through a Green Flex event, thanks to windy weather boosting renewable energy.

On Tuesday evening, the half price will be offered between 9pm and 11pm.

With British Gas’s PeakSave Green Flex events, customers get half price electricity during sunny or windy periods due to the increase in the amount of available. Customers have been emailed to opt in to take part.

This event comes in addition to its usual half price electricity on Sundays between 11am and 4pm and on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, meaning thousands of customers can get things done around the house whilst benefitting from cheaper electricity.

There is no obligation to change normal routines, although the more activities that can be shifted to the peaksave times – such as washing, cleaning or cooking – could save more off energy bills.

According to the energy giant, the most popular Sunday activities include cooking a Sunday roast, washing clothes and hoovering, and catching up on television programmes.

British Gas uses its own forecasting to set the events to test the potential and impact on the grid with this scheme.

The discount is available to new and existing PeakSave customers, and all savings will appear as a credit on customers’ .

PeakSave was launched to reward customers for better energy usage, supporting a greener energy supply. So far, British Gas has paid over £15million to over 750,000 customers taking part in the scheme.

All PeakSave customers will continue to get half-price electricity every Sunday without needing to opt in.

British Gas customers who aren’t already part of the scheme can book their free smart meter with half hourly data and take part .
