The UK has many staycation options 

While some towns in places like Cornwall and the south coast are well-recognised, one Welsh town has been hailed as another great option.

Barmouth, , has been welcoming tourists for 150 years and has established itself as a popular holiday destination.

While the weather in Barmouth, like much of the UK, can be unpredictable, Cardigan Bay is a great place to relax when the weather is warmer.

On the seafront, you can go kayaking, paddleboarding, or walking near the beach.

It is also located on the southern side of Snowdonia National Park, offering beautiful scenery and plenty of hiking routes.

In the town itself, there are plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants to choose from.

History buffs may also want to check out the slate mines, travel on heritage steam trains, visit the castles, and explore the prehistoric monuments.

One Trip Advisor user who visited Barmouth said: “The best place with beautiful nature.

“I like to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. Blue sky, blue water and golden sand.”

Another commenter said: “Nice beach. Catering for dog walking yet separate from family space. Lots of parking available. Great family entertainment. Truly, it is where the mountains meet the sea. Great for young kids.”

Hendre Mynach’s caravan and motorhome park offer a cheap place for people to stay, with pitches costing just £26 a night.

The Min Y Mor Hotel offers a comfortable night’s rest at £72.00 per night.

Barmouth is less than a three hour’s drive from Manchester and just over five hours from London.
