sent a public apology to blockbuster actor Channing Tatum after disappointing 2-2 draw against Cambridge United on Saturday afternoon. Tatum was the latest Hollywood star to land in the Welsh town this weekend, joining co-chairman Ryan Reynolds at the Racecourse Ground for the League One fixture.

Elias Kachunga fired the visitors ahead in the first half before James McClean equalised seven minutes later.

Steven Fletcher handed the Championship promotion chasers the lead just after the hour mark, but Cambridge snatched a late point through Dan Nlundulu’s 89th-minute penalty.

It denied Wrexham the chance to move level on 43 points with League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers and left Phil Parkinson’s side in third, having played an extra match.

Tatum caused a social media frenzy earlier in the day when he posted on his Instagram story, letting his followers know he was in Wrexham.

Wearing a white vest and a red snood adorned with the club’s crest, the superstar actor wrote: “And just like that, I’m in Wrexham about to see a Wrexham match! Let’s gooo.”

McElhenney, Reynolds’ fellow co-chairman, couldn’t help but go online to apologise to Tatum and Green Day rockstar Billie Joe Armstrong, also attending the match, for the result.

“Sorry for the result and . But we always get up and go again. On to Saturday! Up the town!” he wrote on X.

Reynolds made headlines on Friday night when he bought a round of drinks for everyone in the Fat Boar Pub.

In a posted on X by Wrexham.com, Reynolds told the delighted punters: “I’m buying a round for everyone in here, which might be bussing in another hundred people as we speak but that’s fine.

“And then I’m going to go right now, get the f**k out and go to bed. I have four kids, and this is a night off where I just get to go to bed when I want to, which I’m very excited about.

“And I’m also very excited about tomorrow – I hope you’ll all be watching and, you know, up the town, right?

“If I don’t come and visit each and every one of you tonight in your homes, I just want to say happy holidays and all my love to your families.”

Tatum – who starred alongside the 48-year-old Deadpool actor as card-dealing superhero Gambit in this year’s hit movie Deadpool and Wolverine – was also spotted at the pub.
