Landslide shuts down traffic in both directions on Sea to Sky Highway

Ambulances are on scene but it’s not clear whether anyone was injured in the slide, north of Lions Bay.

A large slide has come down on the Sea to Sky Highway with trees and debris strewn across the road just north of Lions Bay.

Journalist Stuart McNish was in the area and said trees were stacked on top of each other across the highway, adding that cars were being turned away. Ambulances are on scene.

According to Drive B.C., Highway 99 is closed in both directions because of a landslide between Lions Bay Avenue and Brunswick Beach Road.

An assessment is in progress. It’s not known yet whether anyone was injured in the slide.
