A flagship awards programme is launched today to recognise the businesses and developers who will be at the forefront of the nation’s rebuilding boom.

The Sunday Express is proud to be a partner in the first British Construction and Property Awards, which will culminate in a major ceremony in the spring.

The aim will be to credit the building industry leaders and workers who help reshape the country.

Their efforts will be crucial at a time when the Government has set a target of building 370,000 new homes a year to address the country’s housing crisis.

Construction businesses, property developers, architects and company bosses are being urged to nominate those whose achievements are worthy of recognition.

Held in association with the Sunday Express, the awards ceremony will celebrate the work of Britain’s construction and property sectors, shining a light on the projects, companies, and individuals driving innovation and excellence in the built environment.

The flagship event will take place in Manchester in May and will be chaired by former Construction Minister Lord Richard Harrington, who brings a wealth of experience and passion for the industry.

Major categories include Property Developer of the Year, Emerging Property Developer of the Year, Construction Business of the Year, Property Champion of the Year, CEO of the Year and the Net Zero Award.

There are also categories recognising excellence in architecture, law, marketing, and sustainability, as well as awards for outstanding equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

Speaking to the Sunday Express, Lord Harrington said: “Having served as a construction minister, I’ve witnessed first hand the incredible potential and ambition within the industry.

“Yet, until now, we’ve lacked a dedicated platform to fully celebrate its achievements. The 2025 Sunday Express British Construction and Property Awards will address this gap, providing the recognition that the sector – essential to the growth and resilience of the UK – rightly deserves.

“These awards will highlight not only the innovations and advancements shaping our built environment but also the people whose expertise and dedication are building the future.”

A Sunday Express spokesman said: “The Sunday Express British Construction and Property Awards will celebrate the success of the people and projects shaping the future of our built environment.

“This is a major event for the sector, recognising not just the achievements of businesses and individuals, but also the innovations and ideas driving the industry forward. “We’re proud to support this exciting initiative.”
