Dick Van Dyke made a dark confession about his future, suggesting he would rather die instead of living the next four years under .

Trump, 78, beat to become the next president in the in November. A number of stars who endorsed Harris were less than pleased about the outcome, including Van Dyke.

The legend, who is celebrating his 99th birthday today (December 13), admitted he is glad he “won’t be around” to experience the full duration of Trump’s second term as president.

In a video published by the last month, the actor was approached in a car park and asked: “Does the future look bright for America?”

“I hope you’re right,” Van Dyke responded, before he was quizzed about whether he thinks Trump “is capable of making America great again”.

Van Dyke said that he would rather die than endure another Trump term, replying: “Fortunately I won’t be around to experience the four years.”

It comes after the Mary Poppins star and his wife Arlene were due to a fast-moving wildfire sweeping through parts of Malibu.

The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang actor issued an update about their whereabouts on Facebook, writing: “Arlene and I have safely evacuated with our animals except for Bobo escaped as we were leaving. We’re praying he’ll be ok and that our community in Serra Retreat will survive these terrible fires.”

The actor’s area, Serra Retreat, was one of the first to be evacuated, along with the part of town east of Malibu Canyon Road.

Cher, 78, who also lives in the area, evacuated in the face of the fast-moving fire. Other well-known stars that live in the warning area include Jonah Hill, Julia Roberts and Lady Gaga, however, there is no confirmation on whether they have been forced to flee.

The rampaging fires erupted late Monday evening (December 10) and have since grown to spread 6 square miles. More than 15,000 firefighters have been tasked with tackling the blaze which has engulfed nearly 2,700 acres of land so far.

The National Weather Service warned: “The fire is burning so hot that it is modifying the local winds… (and) bending them towards and into the fire.”

The inferno has also affected 57,000 residents in California who are now without power.
