Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has blasted the Conservatives saying the party “won’t be around forever” and that the political landscape could be set for the biggest change in 100 years.

Mr Farage was touring his constituency Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, at the weekend, which he seized from the at the General Election in July with a massive 46% of the vote and with a majority of more than 8,000.

Speaking to Express.co.uk Mr Farage said he thought Britain’s political landscape was on the cusp of a major change as his Reform party stormed

He said: “I genuinely believe we are at one of those historic moments, happens once every 50 to 100 years where the whole thing changes.

“Just because they’ve (The Conservative Party) been around since 1874, that doesn’t mean they have to be around forever, that’s my take on it.

“The , half their MPs should be in the Lib Dems, and the other half should be in Reform. I really mean that, I’m not even joking. I see it, I see it with my own eyes.

“How they behave, what they say, how they vote, and they are so divided they can’t have a simple clear message.”

Mr Farage added that the Conservative Party performance on immigration would become a huge issue for the party. Net migration to the UK was 906,000 in the year up to June 2023, far higher than previous estimates.

He added: “I think one other thing that has been underestimated, it’s only ten days ago that we got the net migration figures, for a party that promised tens of thousands to give us near a million, they are not going to be forgiven for that. They’re not.”

Another poll conducted by Techne UK for The Independent, following the Prime Minister’s speech last week, showed a rise in support for Reform UK.

Of the 1,644 people polled, 21% signalled support for Mr Farage’s party – a three-point increase on its previous poll.

Conservative shadow chief secretary to the Treasury Richard Fuller stating the party needs to be clear on their plans for immigration and housing.

Asked about the potential rise of Reform UK, he told Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg: “On issues such as immigration, issues such as housing, yes, there is a need for us to start talking about what direction we’re going to take the country in.

“We need to talk about issues that people worry about, but I don’t think that’s the same as saying we have to now say what exactly we would do if we were in government in five years’ time.”
