Disney+ is now streaming a new series that recreates the magic of what many fans consider Pixar’s finest film. Those who have followed Pixar’s work closely, particularly those who recall the debut of Toy Story in 1995, will likely have a rotating top five list of Pixar films.
Moreover, if anyone has ever said ‘it’s just like a Pixar film’, you know the kind of sentiment they’re trying to convey. Prepare to hear those words again as the Disney-owned studio ventures into television with one of its most ambitious series yet.
Dream Productions is an Inside Out spin-off that takes us back to the unique world of emotions living inside its main character, Riley.
The series explores the studio responsible for producing Riley’s dreams and nightmares each night, focusing on the conflict among the dream creators working there.
This concept was hinted at in a scene from the original film, and the series expands on this idea.

Don’t miss…
The show revolves around renowned dream director Paula Persimmon, voiced by Paula Pell, as she faces her own nightmare of attempting to create her next memorable dream for Riley.
She is made to team up with Xeni, voiced by Richard Ayoade, an arrogant daydream director aiming to make it big in the realm of night dreams, reports .
One enthusiast shared their rave review of the original Pixar classic on Google, saying: “Inside Out was nothing short of a masterwork, Pixar’s best since Toy Story 3 and one of their best overall.” Such high praise sets the bar sky-high. Yet Dream Productions has effortlessly soared to meet this benchmark, sparking curiosity about what other potential spin-offs could be on the horizon.
Dream Productions is a wonderful spin off of one of Pixar’s best films
Viewers will probably believe that Dream Productions is essentially a Pixar film segmented into four pieces. True as it may be, this perspective doesn’t fully acknowledge the tremendous effort by the cast, production crew, and animation team in assembling the series.
Mike Jones, writer and showrunner with credits including Luca and Soul for Pixar, and part of the creative force behind Coco, Elemental, and Inside Out 2, ensures that all four episodes flow seamlessly. He has sculpted each instalment to stand as an excellent piece of television storytelling, running much deeper than just a cut-down movie version.
The result? A series teeming with the classic Pixar charm.
Complete with humour that resonates with younger audience members and sly satire that adults will appreciate, Dream Productions also embodies a meaningful message akin to every Pixar masterpiece. It rests comfortably on the laurels of Inside Out and avoids dragging its feet at any point, resulting in a thoroughly enchanting viewing experience.
Dream Productions has successfully captured the warm, fuzzy feeling that Pixar’s top films always manage to evoke. If Inside Out is indeed one of, if not the best film produced by the studio, this spin-off series wonderfully recreates its magic.
Even though I could predict the next plot point, it didn’t stop me from getting all misty-eyed, just like when I first met Bong Bong in the original Inside Out.
