The bond between and was almost instantaneous, with both women showcasing mutual admiration well before their paths crossed.

Beyonce was already on Meghan’s radar, so much so that Meghan and included her hits in the soundtrack to their in 2018, as revealed .

Their friendship materialised at the star-studded UK premiere of Disney’s The Lion King in 2019.

Conversations reportedly turned personal on the red carpet with Beyonce seemingly calling Meghan “my princess” and later adding: “We love you guys.” During the conversation, Meghan could be seen holding the singer’s hand and thanking her.

Later that year, Beyonce celebrated Meghan’s 40th birthday with a heartfelt tribute on her website. The tribute featured a throwback photo of the Duchess as a young girl and the message: “Happy Birthday .”

The Duchess said: “Beyonce just texted. I still can’t believe she knows who I am.” Harry joked: “Just checking in, just casual. Go call her.”

Beyonce will be back on the big screen next week when the sequel to The Lion King, Mufasa, is released in UK cinemas.

She will reprise her role as Nala while her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, 12, takes on the role of Kiara.

Also reprising their roles from the first film are Donald Glover as Simba, John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogan as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.
