Lee Mack was stunned after 15 players were knocked out as the first round in the latest instalment of The 1% Club.
The comedian, 56, returned to screens on Wednesday night (December 11) with a new episode of the ITV quiz show.
As usual, the show began with 100 contestants who were tasked with answering a series of questions. The first is the 90% question, with the majority of contestants expected to answer it correctly.
The question was: “What food is represented here?”
This was accompanied by an image of a thermometer and a dog. Before the answer was shared, it was revealed that 15 players had answered it incorrectly.
A stunned Lee quipped: “Not being rude but you have got to be kidding me!”

Highlighting the simplicity of the question, he exclaimed: “15? I said to the producer we can’t ask this question because no one is going to get this wrong.”
Lee revealed that the answer was “hot dog”, explaining: “It’s hot dog because that means hot and that means dog.”
The presenter turned to a contestant named Anna, who thought the answer was “dog food”.
“What do you think the thermometer represented?” Lee asked.
As Anna began to respond, the ITV host interrupted her and joked: “Did you think the thermometer was used to cook the dog food?”
A frustrated Anna held her hand up towards Lee as she fumed: “I wasn’t ready.”
The ITV host hit back: “Oh you weren’t ready? We’ve never, in the history of this show, had anyone go, ‘Oh no no I knew it, I just wasn’t ready’.”
Viewers flocked to social media as they expressed their shock at the result after the first round, with one writing: “How are 15! People out ….??? That was obvious.”
“15 out? Wtf?!” added a second as another posted: “15???? Another awful first round!!!”
A fourth asked: “How did 15 people manage to get that question wrong?!?”
Another said: “I can’t be the only one who thinks this show should be made for children as the answers are always too easy!”
