BBC Strictly’s Chris McCausland given major blow just days before final

One Strictly Come Dancing competitor, who was expected to leave the dance show in recent weeks, has seemingly turned things around according to bookies. JLS star has seen odds on him winning slashed significantly since the weekend.

Last week, the singer was one of the favourites to leave the show. However, he and Lauren topped the leader board with a combined score of 79 from two dances instead.

Their performance to “Red Alert” by Basement Jaxx was the first time a Salsa has received a perfect score in six years on the show. It ended up being Tasha and Aljaz and Pete and Jowita who faced the dreaded dance off.

Kayley Cornelius said: “Unwavering frontrunner remains the favourite to win this weekend. With odds of 1/20 and a 95% probability of victory, our trading team tells me he’s the shortest-priced Strictly frontrunner in the market’s history— we’ve never seen a favourite this strong!”

However it seems Chris may now have some fierce competition, with the betting expert adding: “Meanwhile, appears to have made a dramatic U-turn. After being tipped to leave last week, he’s now expected to finish as runner-up and has surged ahead in the betting markets at 1/16.

“This spells trouble for , who had held onto her runner-up spot until now but has slipped to 25/1. Despite this, she’s still predicted to finish within the Top 3.

“As for , it’s been a major blow. Once the favourite to win, she now risks missing out on a Top 3 finish altogether, with odds drifting to 33/1.”

JB suffered a huge blow in the competition when his initial pro partner Amy Dowden had to quit due to a foot injury.

Following Amy’s exit, JB was swiftly paired up with Lauren Oakley and their partnership has been a force to be reckoned with ever since.

JB was named the early favourite to win the programme this year, as bookies put him at the top of the odds on Strictly winner, before he’d even set foot in the ballroom.

However, that soon changed when the public quickly fell in love with and, as a result of his popularity, it’s been the comedian who has led the betting for the last two months.
