Escape to the Chateau star, Angel Strawbridge has revealed how she experienced her “worst nightmare” as she drove to meet her husband.
Joining her husband, on their Chat…eau podcast, Angel opened up on the stressful event as she drove to Cornwall to meet her husband before they were married.
Before elaborating on how the incident occurred, Angel was initially hesitant to share her anecdote as she said: “I don’t want to get any hate mail on this, but the roads in , I find so stressful.”
Recalling how the incident first started to unfold, she said: “So you said ‘you can borrow my car’, you got me on the insurance and you had a little Volkswagen.”

She added: “So I drive up to see you and I remember going up this road and I was a good halfway up it and there was this sort of four-wheel drive that came down and had no mercy and made me reverse and now, reversing is my nightmare, I can’t reverse.”
And, as she was forced to perform her ‘nightmare’ car manoeuvre, she recalled how the lack of modern technology left her traumatised before crashing Dick’s car.
She said: “It was such a long time ago, no reversing cameras, nothing, and as I was reversing really badly I’m having to keep try and line myself up. I just remember I took your wingmirror out and scratched the side of the car and I was quite traumatised by that point.”
Dick and Angel Strawbridge shot to fame after their Escape to the Chateau Channel 4 series became a resounding success shortly after its release. Viewers were first introduced to the couple as they bid to restore their picturesque 19th century French home while they also raising their two children, as well as beginning a business hosting weddings and various other events.
