2025 Nissan Versa is the ‘most affordable car in Canada’

Nissan’s compact sedan takes the title with its starting MSRP of just $20,798 in its base S trim

  • Nissan has announced its 2025 Nissan Versa S is the country’s most affordable car
  • The compact sedan runs from $20,798 to $23,948 across three trims
  • Standard tech includes emergency braking, lane-departure alert, and auto high-beam headlamps

That price marks a rise of $300 over the 2024 Versa S, but given that the average cost of a vehicle is now over $60,000 in Canada, those with tighter budgets should welcome anything advertised as “affordable” these days.

The Versa uses a 1.6L four-cylinder engine that makes 122 horsepower, mated to an automatic continuously-variable transmission (CVT) that’s standard across all trims. Fuel economy is rated as low as 6.8 L/100 km in combined city/highway driving; and Nissan is also claiming best-in-class front legroom and headroom.

Standard driver-assist technologies include emergency front and rear braking, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlamps. Available features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available; and the top SR has adaptive cruise control.

The SR also adds an eight-inch centre touchscreen in place of the seven-inch screen on the two lower trims, along with 17-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, dark chrome grille, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and orange accent stitching. The Versa lineup consists of the S at $20,798; the SV at $22,548; and the SR at $23,948.
