will return to action before Christmas with the 15-time major champion again confirmed for the 2024 PNC Championship. The 48-year-old will once more team up with son Charlie for the annual tournament, won last year by Bernhard and James Langer.

It will be the fifth time the duo have competed in the event, initially named the ‘Father/Son Challenge’ before the title was changed for sponsorship reasons four years ago.

Like in 2023, players will compete at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando on December 21 and 22.

The best showing yet from Team Woods came in 2021, when they finished second overall. Last year the pair tied for 15th place, and according to Woods Snr are relishing the chance to return again.

“I’m very excited to head back to the PNC Championship next week with Charlie,” he said. “Playing together is something we look forward to and it’s always more special when you’re surrounded by friends and family.”

Also among the 20 pairs to compete will be Nick and Matthew Faldo, John Daly and John Daly II, and David and Brady Duval. Overall, the star-studded field have won 69 majors between them, as well as 40 senior major titles and more than 1,000 international titles.

There will be one major change though, coming in the form of Team Harrington. Paddy Harrington will partner dad Padraig after being replaced last year by his younger brother Ciaran, who made his debut.

“My two lads would both like to partner me, so it’s great that they are sharing it,” said the ex- captain. “I’m so pleased that they are both loving playing golf and that our family is able to experience this unique tournament together.”

To qualify for the PNC, played in a 36-hole scramble format, players must have won a major championship or The Players Championship. Also, their partner must not currently hold any playing status on a professional tour.

His schedule has been severely restricted ever since his high-speed car crash in early 2021. His first tournament back following his rehabilitation was the PNC Championship with Charlie, 15.
