The mum-of-one, 39, quickly won over the hearts of the nation, finishing in fourth place, with Sam ultimately stealing the coveted crown. Throughout her time on the show, she appeared to be nothing but a good sport and a hard worker.

But what fans may be surprised to know is that the star has a cheeky side after pulling a cheeky prank that Irish radio presenter Dean McCullough failed to get away with this year.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the doting mum confessed that she once managed to swipe a few stale crumpets into camp without being caught by executives on the show.

After completing a trial, she revealed that she quickly swiped the stale breakfast item while picking out her winnings from Kevin’s ice cream truck after completing a trial.

She giggled: “I gave the crumpets to Tony Bellew in the end because he was starving, poor man. But because he was a boxer, he was really good with it all, like he really starving hungry.

“I wasn’t very good with it, but I didn’t get found out. I mean I think they found out in the end but I was so sneaky about it.”

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for the broadcaster, who admitted that she “wasn’t herself” in the jungle because of how much she missed her son Reggie, six.

Reflecting over her time in camp, she admitted: “I found it really, really hard. It was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done leaving Reg for a month.

“It’s just what you get as a working mum, the mum guilt, and you just don’t want to let your little boy down. You’re worried about what you might say or how you might come across.

“You know, I didn’t want Reg to think I was even flirting with anybody because it’s not the people that are watching that I’m responsible to – and I’m sorry about that – but it’s my son.

“I’ve got a big responsibility to him and I would never like to let him down. Everything I do, I do for him. So, it’s a totally different ball game now.”

The ITV presenter teamed up with First Bus on their Moving the Everyday campain, which aims to highlight the role buses have in bringing local communities together.

She spent the day on the bus in her hometown of Yate, Britsol, meeting war heroes from all over the country. Speaking about her day, she gushed: “I had the most wholesome day I’ve had in years and years. It was lovely because you forget how much of a vital role the bus plays in the community.

“I actually caught the bus around Bath the other day and I met some real characters. I just want to give a shout out to Dianne that I met on the bus, I loved her.

“I did my old bus route through the town back when I used to sell car and home insurance in Bristol city centre and I just remember it was such a sence of community for everybody.”
