Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caught up in ‘elitist’ drama – ‘doesn’t send right message’

face fresh criticism as a German documentary accused the couple of hypocrisy after stepping down from official Royal duties.

The programme, Harry: The Lost Prince, takes aim at the apparent disjoint between the couple’s position as charity advocates and campaigners, while living a lavish lifestyle.

It highlights incidents such as trips to less affluent countries Nigeria and wearing expensive designer clothing.

One reporter Russel Myers backed up what was reported in the programme, saying: “If you’re going to places like Nigeria, like Colombia, which have huge socio-economic problems, some of the world’s poorest communities in these countries, and you’re turning up wearing tens of thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes – it really doesn’t send the right message.”

The documentary also reminds viewers that the couple admitted to working just one hour a week on the , before highlighting a significant $11 million drop in donations in one year, down to just $2 million in 2022.

Accusations were also made that the pair denounced official royal duties to make more money, such as the controversial series and tell-all book Spare.

One criticism came from Veteran Ben McBean, who lost his left arm and had his right leg amputated after a landmine blast in Afghanistan in 2008.

Speaking about the part in the book where Harry mentions his brother pushing him over, McBean who shared a flight home with Harry from Afghanistan, said: “I was just like, ‘Mate, just leave it out.’

“If one of my friends fell out with his partner and started posting things on social media and saying my ex is this and that, I’d have told him to shut up as well.”

The couple’s reputation soared in Germany when they attended the in Dusseldorf, but the documentary also brings the funding into question, pointing to a €40million donation from Germany’s Ministry of Defence.
