A conceptual artist and media prankster has created the perfect gift for people who fear President Joe Biden played favorites when he pardoned his son Hunter: Free pardon cards for anyone who wants one.
This past weekend, artist Joey Skaggs posted a link on his website for Free Biden Presidential Pardons.
The fake online certificate grants “a full and unconditional pardon” to anyone who puts their name on it.
Would you rather be pardoned by Donald Trump than Biden? No problem. Skaggs also has a Trump pardon on his website that he created the first time Trump left office.
Just to be clear: The pardons Skaggs is offering aren’t legally valid. Still, Skaggs says they have value.
“Everyone deserves a pardon,” he told HuffPost. “I would like to put a smile on peoples’ faces, but some people are probably taking it seriously,” he said, adding that he hoped no one actually tries to use the certificate.
HuffPost reached out to the White House for comment, but no one immediately responded.
Skaggs has a storied career as a conceptual artist and media prankster. In 1986, he convinced “Good Morning America” and The Washington Post, among other news outlets, that he was the leader of a group of retired Marines called the “Fat Squad” who supposedly helped people lose wait by surveilling them 24 hours a day and physically restraining them from eating.
He also fooled the media with his “Hair Today” hoax when he claimed he could treat baldness with hair transplants from human cadavers, and when he posed as the pimp for the world’s first dog bordello.
