The career of former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz has taken some strange turns since he withdrew from consideration to be Donald Trump’sattorney general last month.
Gaetz resigned from Congress to accept Trump’s nomination, only to bow out of contention for the role amid sexual misconduct allegations.
But now, instead of making news, Gaetz will be discussing it starting in January as a host on the very conservative One America News Network.
This new job is in addition to selling personalized messages on Cameo for $500 a pop, a price he’s now dropped to $400.
Naturally, Gaetz said he was “so excited to be part of the One America News family” in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Although OANN enjoyed some publicity from Donald Trump and his allies in 2020, it also promoted Trump’s election lie that he didn’t actually lose to Joe Biden.
That led to the network being dropped by major carriers and a defamation lawsuit from Smartmatic, a voting technology company.
OANN also pushed other conspiracy theories, including in a 2021 interview with a woman who claimed that COVID vaccines made her magnetic.
The bipartisan mockery of Gaetz and his new gig popped up on various social media platforms.
