Surrey’s Kenneth Thomas Howe was found dead in Burnaby on Aug. 12, 2021.
Two men have been charged in the death of a Surrey man whose body found in a commercial area in Burnaby more than three years ago.
Kenneth Thomas Howe, 38, was found dead in the 6200-block Darnley Street in Burnaby at 6 a.m. on Aug. 12, 2021.
At the time, homicide investigators said Howe did not appear to be involved in the Lower Mainland gang conflict, but his death was targeted.
On Saturday, police arrested 38-year-old John Perry Harasym, 38. Court records show Harasym was charged with second-degree murder for an offence committed in Surrey on Aug. 11, the day before Howe was found.
A second person, Jessie River Miller, is alleged to have been involved after Howe’s death. The 34-year-old was charged with indignity to human remains.
Both men remain in custody until their next appearance in Surrey provincial court on Dec. 20.
“As this matter is now before the courts, we are unable to provide additional details,” said IHIT spokesman Staff Sgt. David Lee in a statement. “We hope that this is a step to obtaining some answers for the friends and family of Kenneth Howe.”
