In the aftermath of the , the final stages of filming took place for the upcoming movie, starring . His character, Sonny Hayes, stepped onto the podium with and to film a race victory sequence, but something was off about the presentation.
With fans still in the grandstands, Pitt sprayed champagne with a fictional team representative and the two F1 stars accompanying him on the rostrum, but not before he collected the race-win trophy.
However, in pictures taken by fans in attendance, Russell, who occupied the third-place slot on the podium, and second-placed Leclerc had both already received their silverware. Traditionally, in F1 podium ceremonies, the race winner is awarded their trophy first, but in this case, Pitt was the last to pick up his reward.
The inconsistency may eventually be called out by , who has been acting as a co-producer on the project in a bid to improve the authenticity of the finer details of F1 life.
Discussing the Brit’s impact, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said: “Everything that he has brought to this movie, I cannot even express our thanks to him and all the folks from F1 who made this all possible.

“The authenticity that he brings, we just cannot imagine what goes into what a driver does and what the sport brings to an audience. Sometimes we do not like to hear some of the things he says, because it costs us more money to fix things, but we are all in, we want to make it great, and he is certainly helping us.”
Pitt and co-star Damson Idris were completing the final round of filming for the movie, which is scheduled for global release in June 2025. The former was emotional about the idea of wrapping up his work on the project when interviewed by Sky Sports F1’s Ted Kravitz ahead of Sunday’s race.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Pitt responded when asked whether filming has given him greater respect for F1’s drivers. “I’ve got so much respect for these guys and what these cars can do and what these drivers can do. It’s off the charts.
“I’ve got to say, I have been having the time of my life. Oh my god, I wish we could go on for another year. We’re on our last week now, we’ll wrap it up here in Abu Dhabi and, yeah, I might shed a tear. You may see a grown man cry.”
