Ja Rule, Chingy and Jermaine Dupri will open the party
Winter has started to bite, but it’s getting hot in here anyway as hip-hop superstar Nelly is coming to Rogers Place April 21.
Hitting 10 Canadian cities with Edmonton in the middle, the Austin, Texas-born, Midwest-raised rapper is doing a 56-date tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his gargantuan debut solo jam, Country Grammar.
Hot in Herre, spelled just like that, is the 50-year-old’s biggest earworm, still a guaranteed drop on any sweaty dance floor.
But Nelly’s also got a deep catalogue of bangers like Flap Your Wings, Ride Wit Me, Air Force Ones, Dilemma with Kelly Rowland, the Tim McGraw-featuring Over and Over, and of course Country Grammar (Hot S—).
The rapper has won three Grammys, nine Billboard Music Awards and even appeared in 2005’s The Longest Yard as well as that mockumentary series, Real Husbands of Hollywood.
For the Canuck dates, Ja Rule, Chingy and Jermaine Dupri will open the party — and guaranteed it will be a party!
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, with presales starting Tuesday.
Meanwhile, country singer Dylan Gossett — also from Austin — is coming to Midway Music Hall April 9.
Last year’s Coal was his big breakthrough Billboard Hot 100 Hit last year you might know, a great little number all about the pressures of being human.
The 25-year-old’s Stronger Than a Storm was also one of the myriad on-the-nose songs on the Twisters soundtrack.
Same setup as Nelly — tickets on sale 10 a.m. Friday with presales 10 a.m. Tuesday.
