Cars from these manufacturers set to be hit with new £2,745 car tax rise in months

Almost 60 models from 24 brands will be slapped with an eye-watering £2,745 increase from next Spring.

Models from popular manufacturers such as , and Mercedes will face extra fees due to dramatic changes to rates. 

As part of the Autumn Budget, Labour decided to for petrol and diesel models from April 2025. 

These are hefty fees paid by before they switch to the standard rate. 

Fees will increase on a sliding scale with most of the from their current 2024 rates.

Models producing over 255 g/km of CO2 set for the highest £2,745 rise with a string of some of the most popular vehicles on the road affected. 

Cars set to feel the sting include seven Audi sportscars including the stunning R8. 

Aston Martin’s latest DB13, DBX and Vantage models also produce over 255g/km of CO2 meaning owners will pay the highest first-year rates. 

Four Bentley’s and five BMWs are on the list followed by a Chevrolet and two Ferrari’s.

Ford’s mostly middle-market model range means only four models are affected with Mustang and Ranger owners set to feel the sting.

Jaguar, Jeep and Lamborghini make up the list followed by Maserati and McLaren. 

Four Mercedes-Benz cars are set to be affected with the G400D, G63, GLC63 and SL55 all over the 255g/km cut-off point. 

Owners of four Porsche vehicles including the 718 Cayman 4.0 GT4, 911 3.7T 992 Turbo, Cayenne 4.0T V8 and Macan 2.9T V6 are also set to be affected. 

Multiple Range Rover and Rolls-Royce vehicles are also set to pay higher charges under the new VED bands. 

: “Vehicle Excise Duty first-year rates are paid for the first year of a car’s lifecycle, at the point of registration, and vary based on emissions. 

“From 1 April 2025, the Vehicle Excise Duty first-year rates will be changed to widen the difference between zero-emission, hybrid and internal combustion engine cars.”
