BBC Breakfast Carol Kirkwood’s four-word response after ‘scared’ co-star puts her on spot

weather presenter was put on the spot by her co-star on Monday’s edition of the early morning show when she was asked about the prospects of a white Christmas.

Carol was finishing up her weather report when Jon Kay turned to her to say: “Carol it’s the 9th of December when are we allowed to ask you about Christmas?” Carol joked: “On the 26th!”

Jon replied: “What if we have plans before the 26th? Seriously when do you get a clue about what’s it’s going to be…”

Carol said: “It’s really too far ahead to say yet if you’re asking if it’s going to be a white Christmas. Five days out you’ll get a better idea.”

Jon’s co-host then told her: “Carol, Jon has been building up to ask that question all morning but he’s been so scared to ask you,” as Jon interrupted: “All year!”

Carol broke into laughter before giving a four-word response saying: “Oh Jon, you rascal. I’ll let you know as soon as I do, I promise.”

Sally then turned to Jon to add: “Well done, very brave.”

Two days earlier, Breakfast host was forced to ease viewers’ concerns as she reminded fans that her colleague was “working” in the midst of Storm Darragh.

The 49-year-old was back on the famous red sofa alongside her co-host , 62, on Saturday morning (December 7). Covering the latest news headlines across the the globe, which included ‘s 230-mile MND run, the presenter’s top story appeared to be the harsh weather conditions that is currently battering the UK.

With warnings to stay indoors until the storm passes, viewers were given updates on the areas of the UK where the weather seems to be at its worst.

But some fans were concerned that despite the caution given, Breakfast still had reporters outside in Bangor and Bristol to share their experiences.

Meanwhile, presenter Jon Kay also appeared in Cardiff to share his experience of the bad weather. But quickly after his report, Naga stepped in to remind viewers that despite Jon being outside he was in fact working.

Naga said: “Jon is actually working this morning. I know the weather warning is to stay indoors but that’s why he’s out and about.”

She added: “I know the red warning is do not leave, do not go out unless absolutely necessary, but he is working in Cardiff.”
