It’s that time of year again when despite days being very short, there is plenty of light outside.
This is because of all the scattered around estates, neighbourhoods and high streets.
But, there is one particular spot in the UK where lights have been taken to a different level.

The trail is located in Castle Park and has a dazzling display of lights and enchanting pathways.

Running from December 6 to Christmas Eve, the event transforms the grounds of Colchester Castle into a sparkling winter wonderland.

Organised by Enlightened Moments, the trail has been completely reimagined this year with new installations and interactive features.
A spokesperson for Enlightened said: “With over 200,000 guests enchanted by our spectacles last year, we’ve listened closely to the whispers of awe and wonder.
“In 2024, we unveil new installations and interactive wonders across all of our trails, promising our most dazzling and immersive season yet.”

Colchester is Britain’s oldest recorded city and brings festive magic to life every year.
The trail has been completely reimagined this year.
Colchester Council added: “Enlightened Colchester returns next Friday (Dec 6) and runs right through to Christmas Eve. Rapidly becoming a Christmas tradition for many, this year’s trail has been completely reimagined to keep the magic fresh.”
Visitors can expect a one-hour journey through light-filled pathways and captivating attractions, accompanied by an enchanting soundscape.
Tickets start at £12.50 per person, with options for adults, children, and infants. Off-peak and peak tickets are available, and infants under three can enjoy the trail for free.
Pre-booking is required, with entry slots every 15 minutes from 5pm.
The entrance to the trail is located by the war memorial on Colchester’s High Street. Guests are advised that there is no access to the event from other Castle Park entrances.
