Saturday night’s semi-final began with ex-Love Islander with professional Aljaz Skorjanec who initiated the penultimate episode of Strictly’s milestone 20th series, serving up a sizzling salsa to Girls Aloud’s track, Something New.
The dynamic duo clinched a score of 35 from the judges, with head judge Shirley Ballas hailing it a “beautiful performance”. The panel suggested polish was needed in their transitions and lifts, reports .
They later returned with a Waltz to Aretha Franklin’s (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and received a perfect score of 40.
However, viewers voiced their unease, apprehensive that being the curtain-raiser could spell doom for Tasha.

One Twitter/X user expressed their frustration, saying: “They’re fully leaving Pete and Chris till the end…. they’re trying so hard to get a Tasha and JB bottom two I feel sick #Strictly.”
Another viewer accused the show of bias, stating: “Judges blatant goal for tonight is to put JB and Tasha in the death slots and intentionally score Tasha lower so they can get her gone. Hate this show #strictly.”
A third was equally irate, venting: “Reading that Tasha is in the death slot… F**K THIS SHOW man. Why are they doing everything to protect Pete #strictly.”
The same user also noted: “JB and Tasha in the death slots is… wow I see what you’re doing #strictly.”
Meanwhile, another chimed in with: “Another week another celeb stuck in the death slot that isn’t pete #strictly.”
On Saturday, Pete and Jowita finished at the bottom of the leaderboard after dividing the judges with their Foxtrot to Beyond The Sea by Bobby Darin, which earned them a total of 32 points.
Craig Revel Horwood described the dance as “robotic” and offered the pair a seven while Shirley Ballas awarded the pair a nine and called Pete “Mr “.
Their second dance was a Tango to Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve which Revel Horwood said “lacked any Argentine tango technique whatsoever”. The pair were awarded 33 points from the judges.
Comedian and Dianne Buswell performed a Charleston to When You’re Smiling by The Blue Vipers Of Brooklyn which was awarded 33 points by the judges.
Their other dance, a Viennese waltz to Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, received 36 points.
The Strictly results programme will air on Sunday at 7.20pm on One and the final will air next weekend.
