“And she came out absolutely ashen in the face. And she said, ‘There is a dead body! There’s a dead body in the bed’.

“So we all sort of tiptoed into the bedroom and sure enough, there’s this body underneath the sheet and we’re like, ‘We really don’t know how to deal with this’.

But as they stood at the door, Martin explained that the “dead body” soon started snoring with the pair discovering “someone had forgot their grandad” and it was the previous owner’s relative.

The broadcaster went on: “It started snoring and so we kind of nudged it. And then this old man sat bolt upright, no teeth and said, ‘Where’s my family?’ and the people had left in such a rush that they forgot granddad.

“Granddad was still sleeping the bed. The family had left. The house had been sold. He’s suddenly faced with film crew from homes under [the hammer].”

Thankfully Martin, who was speaking to the outlet on behalf of 10bet, revealed that their family had moved close to the original house.

Once they “gave him a cup of tea and calmed him down” the granddad was reunited with his family. Homes Under The Hammer has been on air since 2003 and follows new and experienced buyers at auctions bidding on usually run-down properties.
