Joel Dommett has been a household name as a beloved entertainer for years
Joel Dommett has been entertaining us since he rose to stardom in the early 2010s when he hosted Live in Chelsea.
But it’s fair to say the 39-year-old presenter got his first big break when he placed second on back in 2016.
The TV presenter has gone on to present a series of hit shows including The Masked Singer, Survivor, and Comic Relief.
Most recently, the broadcaster has been fronting the spin-off show Unpacked alongside anchors Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers.

The presenter starred on Casualty as a teenager
Joel hails from Rockhampton, Gloucestershire and always knew he wanted to pursue a career in film and TV from a young age. But what fans may be surprised to learn is that the Masked Singer host formed his own nu metal band as a teenager called Psirus.
The group played five shows before they disbanded, with the dad-of-one moving down to the Big Smoke at the age of 19 as an aspiring actor.
In 2021, the presenter gave fans a glimpse at one of his first acting roles when he was just 17, playing a teenager who’d crashed his car in Casualty.
Taking to , the star shared a record of his starring role on medical drama, which he captioned: “Joel Dommett in 2002 on Casualty. ENJOY.”

In the clip, the teenager can be seen sitting in the back of an ambulance with a bandage on his head while a medic woks on his father after the crash.
He can be heard saying: “It’s my birthday today. That was my present, the car. I took my test this morning and passed.”
As the paramedic congratulates him for passing, Joel adds: “If I’d failed we wouldn’t be here now, would we? My dad, he bought me the car and now I’ve killed him.”
The dramatic scenes were just one of Joel’s many roles as an actor before he went on to become a comedian and presenter. It’s not the first time Joel has spoken about his role on Casualty.
The star previously revealing how he managed to make his emotional scenes look so convincing despite not being able to cry on cue.
Speaking on The Danny Baker Show in 2017. He explained: “Its a very emotional part. You know, your dad’s dying, you’ve crashed your car, the insurance premium is going to go up. There’s so much going on.
“I remember … if you can cry that makes you an actor, and I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t cry. So what I would do, I knew if you yawn your eyes water over a little bit… I swear to God, before every scene I yawned.”
Since his acting days, the presenter has gone on to become a household name as one of Britain’s favourite TV hosts.
