star Julie Goulding has shared her initial response to learning that her character, Shona Platt, would be unfaithful.
Since joining the ITV soap in 2016, the actress has been at the heart of numerous major plotlines.
Shona’s tumultuous journey in Weatherfield has seen her survive a brain injury and a near-death experience at the hands of her own son. The drama continues to unfold as it was recently revealed that she had cheated on her husband, David Platt (played by Jack P. Shepherd).
Viewers will remember that over the past month, David has been manipulating and deceiving Shona in an attempt to prevent her from contacting her son Clayton (portrayed by Callum Harrison).
Clayton, who is serving time for the murder of David’s previous wife Kylie (Paula Lane) in 2016, tried to reach out to Shona from prison, reports Plymouth Live.

Shona cheated on David this week
David intervened, concealing letters and deleting emails from the prison. However, in ‘true’ soap opera style, Shona discovered the truth this week, leading to a heated confrontation with David.
The day took a turn when Shona was arrested for assaulting a prison governor. After being questioned by Kit, she was released and instead of returning home, she decided to hit the town.
In Friday’s episode (December 6), it became apparent that Shona was keeping a significant secret. In a shocking twist at the end of the show, it was revealed that Shona had spent the night with Kit.
‘s Shona Ramsey actress, Julia Goulding, has opened up about her reaction to the shocking plot twist involving her character’s infidelity. Speaking to Plymouth Live and other media outlets, she disclosed: “It was Jack [P. Shepherd] who told me about it.”

Julia has opened up about Shona’s affair
“He texted me saying ‘you cheat on me! ” revealed Julia. Recounting her initial shock, she continued: “I was like ‘Oh no, who with?!’ and he [Jack] went ‘I’ll give you a clue, he’s massive’.”
In jest, Julia admitted that her first guess was George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley). She added: “And then he said it was you [Kit], and I was like ‘Oh right okay. That’s not too bad!'”
The revelation of Shona’s affair with Kit left fans reeling, and it seems Julia was equally taken aback. She confessed: “I never expected Shona to cheat on David. Eight years, eight years they’ve been together! And she’s always been faithful, she’s literally never looked at another man,” she concluded.
