Even the most dedicated Star Wars enthusiasts might feel that the franchise has lost its lustre at some point. However, there’s good news for those who feel the Force isn’t as strong as it used to be – there are still ways to reignite the spark.
Numerous films, series and games have been launched in the years following George Lucas’ original film but they’re not all created equal.
Whether you’re a self-proclaimed Star Wars novice or a seasoned fan seeking a fresh perspective, there are options available to draw you into the fold.
Here are four suggestions to help alleviate franchise fatigue. They range from spin-off films, series that expand the universe with original stories and even a game that tells its own Jedi tale.

Don’t miss…
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
Skeleton Crew has just debuted on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere. While the full series isn’t yet available for binge-watching, fans can easily get up to speed, reports .
Early reviews and reactions have been overwhelmingly positive for this new series co-created by Jon Watts, director of the MCU’s Spider-Man films. It’s been likened to a blend of E.T. , Stranger Things, adventures and The Goonies.
The plot centres around four children who find themselves marooned in a distant galaxy after discovering an old spaceship. Along their journey back home, they encounter new allies including a mysterious character played by Jude Law and a pirate droid voiced by Nick Frost.
Skeleton Crew is an exciting adventure that caters to both die-hard Star Wars enthusiasts and newcomers alike, making it a perfect watch for the entire family. Although it’s set within the Jedi universe, the show’s appeal extends beyond just fans of the franchise.

The Mandalorian
If you’ve already watched the first live-action spin-off on Disney+, it’s worth rewatching from the beginning to appreciate its excellence. The inaugural season, in particular, remains impressive.
Set a few years after the original trilogy and the collapse of the Galactic Empire, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, who delivers a stellar performance despite his face being mostly hidden.
The show also introduces Grogu, affectionately known by fans Baby Yoda, and revolves around a bounty hunter (Pascal) who unexpectedly becomes the protector of a mysterious child he encounters during a mission.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order tells a unique story
Similar to Skeleton Crew, prior knowledge of the Star Wars universe isn’t necessary to enjoy The Mandalorian. While familiarity with certain legendary characters can enhance the experience, the show stands on its own as an engaging drama series.
A fan review on Rotten Tomatoes praises the show, saying: “Simply sensational, explores a side of the Star Wars universe that everyone always wanted to see.”

Rogue One (and Andor)
This recommendation comes as a pair, and for good reason. Rogue One was the first spin-off film released between The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
Set just prior to A New Hope, the film reveals how the rebellion managed to steal the Death Star plans. The storyline follows the classic war film tradition and even attempts to resolve a long-standing debate from the original trilogy, making it an excellent choice for Star Wars novices.
Moreover, it arguably boasts one of the most thrilling action sequences in any Star Wars instalment, featuring a legendary character. While promoting Skeleton Crew, Jude Law confessed that Rogue One was among his favourite Star Wars films, and its popularity has only grown since its release.
This could be due to the spin-off series derived from the film. The Disney+ show Andor delves deeper into the backstory of one of Rogue One’s central characters, Diego Luna’s Cassian.
Andy Serkis also makes a memorable return to the Star Wars universe in the series. If you’re a fan of Rogue One, make sure to catch Andor before its second season premieres next year.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
While not a film or series, if you’re seeking an experience heavily centred around Jedi and lightsaber duels, then Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a must-play. Launched in 2019, it can be played on consoles or PC.
Set in the aftermath of the prequel trilogy, following the Jedi purge, we meet Cal Kestis, a former Padawan now living incognito. His true identity is soon exposed, leading him on a chase from the Empire and unearthing Jedi secrets he had hoped to forget.
For those who aren’t avid gamers, there’s still a way to enjoy the narrative. A quick YouTube search for a story recap or a compilation of cutscenes will do the trick. Some recaps feature a host explaining the plot points rather than showing everything, but these are usually condensed to under 20 minutes. If you opt for the cutscenes, be prepared to invest more time as they can run between 2-3 hours depending on the edit.
However, playing the game yourself offers the most enjoyment and is the best way to immerse yourself in this compelling Star Wars tale. There’s also a sequel, ‘Survivor’, which incorporates story elements inspired by the High Republic era. Fans can look forward to a third and final instalment in the future.
