Many shoppers and fans of the hot beverage noticed the popular drinking chocolate was missing from shelves in multiple .
Some shoppers took to social media to demand answers after spotting the empty shelves where their beloved hot cocoa fix should be.
Philip King posted on X: “@CadburyUK where is all of your hot chocolate???? No shop seems to have it?!”
Cadbury UK responded reassuringly: “Hi there, we aim to have Cadbury Hot Chocolate back in stores by mid-December. We do, however, have a range of other drinking chocolates, such as Cadbury Bournville Cocoa and Cadbury Highlights, for you to enjoy. Oliver’s Coffee House queried the disappearance of the beverage, reaching out on social media: “@CadburyUK Hi there, has your drinking chocolate been discontinued? We usually buy the 2kg or 5kg tubs from @BookerCatering, but they’ve totally vanished.”
Meanwhile, shoppers around the world have been affected by the mysterious absence. On its blog, Foster’s Food Fair informed customers: “Cadbury is withdrawing from the sale of Cadbury Drinking Chocolate products as a precautionary measure. They have identified a food quality issue in some products due to production variability,” reports .
“This means that, in some instances, the texture and colour of the product may not look as expected. The company is recalling the following products: Cadbury Drinking Chocolate (Fairtrade).

“Any unopened affected product may be returned to your local Foster’s for a full refund with the original receipt. Rest assured, this is not a food safety issue, and the product is safe to consume.”
Mondelēz International, owner of Cadbury’s, issued an apology to their patrons in a statement, acknowledging the issue: “Ensuring our consumers enjoy consistently high-quality Cadbury products is of paramount importance to us.
“We have identified a food quality issue in Cadbury Drinking Chocolate products meaning in some instances the texture and colour of the product may not look as expected. As a result, we have swiftly withdrawn affected products from retailers, to make specific improvements to future production.
“Cadbury is withdrawing from the sale of Cadbury Drinking Chocolate products as a precautionary measure. They have identified a food quality issue in some products due to production variability.”
They added: “This unfortunately means Cadbury Drinking Chocolate products will be unavailable for a short period. We are working hard to get Cadbury Drinking Chocolate back in shops again quickly, and we envisage this will be around mid-December.
“Other hot chocolate products including Bournville Cocoa, Green and Blacks Cocoa, Cadbury Instants and Cadbury Highlights are not impacted.”
