and have shared their official 2024 Christmas card, which features a new picture of the couple taken when the monarch postponed public engagements to undergo cancer treatment.

The new portrait shows Charles, 76, and Camilla, 77, beaming side by side in the Garden at Buckingham Palace wearing matching blue.

The King is wearing a grey suit with a patterned blue tie and pocket square, while the Queen is wearing a blue wool crepe dress by Fiona Clare and jewellery from her private collection.

Respected royal photographer Millie Pilkington captured the image, which was taken at the start of April.

At the time the King had only made one public appearance since, stepping out for the Easter church service at Windsor.

Charles postponed all public-facing engagements for 12 weeks while he commenced outpatient treatment, but he continued with state business and official paperwork as normal.

At the end of April , and a portrait – taken at the same time as the Christmas card picture – was released to accompany the news.

The photographer took the images a day after the couple celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary, with the King and Queen looking as in love as ever.

, having taken an official wedding portrait of the Prince and Princess of Wales – which was shared for the first time in April to mark their 13th wedding anniversary.

The snapper, who is based in Dorset and specialises in weddings and children’s portraits, has also photographed William and Kate’s three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

She captured the adorable images of Louis in a wheelbarrow to mark his fifth birthday and the special picture of the Prince with his three children to mark Father’s Day last year.

The card read the usual festive greeting and said: “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”

Senior royals regularly release official festive images for Christmas cards that are sent to friends, family and colleagues.

Last year, the King and Queen chose a more formal picture, a portrait from their Coronation.

Hugo Burnand captured the image of the pair in their impressive coronation robes and crowns in the Throne Room at the Palace.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to release their own festive card in the coming weeks, having shared a monochrome portrait of their family last year.
