Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen on Friday revealed that the “funniest thing” that happened on the day of his proposal to Hailee Steinfeld was his now-fiancée’s question for him after they woke up.

″[We] were getting ready for brunch and you jumped on the bed and said ‘Can we get married already?!? What are you waiting for??!’” Allen told Steinfeld in a written Q&A for her Beau Society newsletter.

Allen, a favorite to win the NFL’s MVP award this season, recalled his response to the “Spider-Man” star: “Just give me a little more time.”

“Little did you know I was about to propose to you…,” he added.

Allen, who announced his engagement with Steinfeld in a joint Instagram post last month, spilled on the proposal as he fittingly answered his fiancée’s 17 questions (Allen’s jersey is No. 17) for the 17th issue of her newsletter.

The couple, who first sparked romance rumors in May 2023 after they were spotted together in New York City, went Instagram official back in July when Allen shared a photo carousel that included a sweet snap from their trip to Paris.

Allen, in his Q&A with Steinfeld, revealed that he was “very nervous” on the day of the proposal, which featured the two kissing at sunset under an arch filled with roses that was surrounded by candles.

“I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal. It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you,” Allen said.

He continued, “Then multiple times throughout the day a song would come on and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”

The NFL star, who claimed he doesn’t remember what he told Steinfeld when he got down on one knee, used one word to describe how he felt after the proposal: “relieved.”

“I didn’t blow it nor did anyone else. You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me. And the sun was out,” said Allen, who called it “unbelievable” to be engaged to someone “so special and loving and caring and gorgeous and fun and happy.”
